Native Plant Demonstration Garden
EcoTopic / Project Category
Campus & Community Policy, Education & Awareness, Habitat & Wildlife
Project Goal Summary
To install native plants, hopefully local ecotype, in a campus garden bed. Additional funding is still needed for signs as we want the gardens to go beyond just supporting wildlife but to also help shape the minds of the future generations. They are in the right space mentally as they are on campus to learn. One of the other garden beds has already been installed as a pollinator garden, unsure of what plants were used and if they were native. Might be fun to do a native plant garden that helps the birds, beyond providing caterpillars/food and how the birds use plant materials to build their nests. A heated water feature and winter interest to demonstrate the need for habitat year round for our overwintering birds.
