Project Goal Summary
Located in Metro Atlanta, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is most commonly known for its rich background in civil war history. However, the two thousand acre park has very little information on the areaЉ—Иs environmental resources. This project implements new environmental waysides on the parkЉ—Иs environmental trail to educate park visitors. The trail will also be used to educate local school groups in the metro Atlanta area that travel to the park. After researching the area, and reviewing GeorgiaЉ—Иs educational standards, nine wayside sign concepts were created. The nine trail signs have been created in were also designed specifically for the trail area, and have inspired other programs for young students and educators. Students from the University of Georgia, Kennesaw University, and Spelman College collaborated to complete this wayside project in August 2012.
