Consumption and Waste

My project is working to educate the public to recycle, lessen their waste, and prevent pollution. The lack of recycling, and pollution of plastic in communities is an educated issue, but not enough to express the importance of it to humans and animals alike. Recycling gives us the change to reuse plastics, and discourage instead of throwing them in the garbage or littering. Garbage ends up in oceans primarily through poorly managed industrial waste discharges, littering, overflowing trash bins, and shipping containers that go overboard along with cargo ships that sink. Over one million tons of plastic end up in the ocean each year, and there it is the most detrimental to marine animals, their environment, and us. Therefore, advocacy must be done. It is difficult to appeal to the government, and make big changes with small amounts of people, but I believe that reasonable, small, actions, is better than sitting around and doing nothing. The project I would like to work on is to produce pictures of the effects of plastic and spread them throughout different areas next to trash/recycling cans, and  just popular destinations to give people a place of what happens when they don't do their part.
