Description:
I manage a 2.4 acre organic farm located in Skokie, Illinois. We're an urban farm sandwiched between a preschool and an Amazon distribution center. Our land serves as a haven for not just sustainable food production in our community, but also serves the ecological floral and fauna that need habitat in our urban area. Through a collaboration effort with the University of Illinois Farmer Extension Program, we're setting aside part of our growing space this year to serve as flower beds for pollinator habitat. With a permacultural lens the space will not only serve our pollinators, but also a gathering space for our community members to immerse themselves in a natural space not found often in the area.
