My Eco-Mission:
My love for the environment comes from my education. When I started as an undergrad in Ithaca College I never imagined that I was going to love my environmental classes as much as I did. I grew concerned with the environment and I wanted to change the way I was living, and reduce my ecological footprint. I am now a graduate student at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX. I am studying environmental management and sustainability, and I am just finishing up my research on using camera traps to track activity and density of white-tailed deer in an urban preserve. Overall, I am really interested in research and studying wild life and our effects on the ecosystems. I am especially in love with the ocean, and I would love the opportunity to work on a research project that studies community dynamics and anthropogenic effects on these ocean and reef communities.
I am also a NWF Content Development Fellow and I will be working on researching topics for the EcoLeader Community. The first topic I am working on is consumption and waste, something that I am familiar with. Austin has established a plastic bag ban in the hopes to reduce their waste production. I have also seen efforts on my campus to elimiate plastic water bottles. If you ever want to talk about any of my past experiences or on how I became a Fellow do not hesitate to ask.
