Eco-Mission
My Eco-Mission:
Our planet's wild places enchant me. If I were living in a few centuries in the past, I'd be trekking across continents and sailing oceans to observe nature and collect plants. Since I'm living in the now, I love research and the development of natural technologies. Constructed wetlands, urban forests, and phytoremediation are my favorites. I also want to connect people with nature by getting people to experience it.
I am working on a forest composition study in the Great Trinity Forest of Dallas, Texas. My work is supporting the Trinity River Audubon Center. I am also leading the Southern Methodist University Environmental Society in our efforts to create environmentally conscious campus culture.

My Fun Side
My favorite planet friendly activity is:
upcycling! I love the "buy nothing new" attitude and creatively reusing items or making my own things. I've made iPad cases out of packing envelopes+duct tape, t-shirt blankets, and more.
One of my eco-guilty pleasures is:
showers.... I even got a 5-minute shower timer, but I turn it three times!
If I were an animal, I would be:
My favorite wild place is:
My favorite way to get outdoors is:
gardening or exploring forests to collect leaves.
On a More Serious Note
I am driven to make a difference in the world because:
it's beautiful. I feel a special calling to appreciate and share the natural world's majesty.
The greatest skill I bring to a team is:
finding opportunities and making connections.
My proudest moment working on community projects was:
when I gathered a team to teach elementary school children about gardening.
If I could change one thing about my community it would be:
to do away with the party culture. I change it to a culture of young adults who would rather spend a beautiful, bright Saturday morning outside or volunteering instead of sleeping off a hang over.
