Hi all!
My name is Marissa, I'm a senior Environmental Studies major. I've had an idea for some time now that I want to take action on, but I think it would be more fun (and successful) with a passionate team. I am starting a blog with the goal of helping college students make small, easy, and/or free lifestyle changes in order to live more sustainably. I want students to have a one-stop shop resource for living sustainably in a dorm and on a budget, and show them how easy it can be! I am using WordPress, so I would love contributors with experience with that platform and background in sustainability. Ideally contributors could compose two blog posts per month, along with photographs and other resources or materials necessary to accompany the article. If you are interested in getting this idea off the ground with me, please contact me at mmbyers@butler.edu with your experience, a writing sample, a photography sample, and a few ideas for blog posts. This would be a great creative outlet, resume builder, and most importantly a way to make a difference in our communities! Thanks for your interest!

Hi Marissa,
Thanks so much for sharing this opportunity with the community! What a neat project. I would encourage you to share this project through EcoLeaders as well and consider applying for EcoLeader certification for your efforts. Please let me know if you have any questions about the process and best of luck on your blog!

Marissa,
I would be interested in something like this! At my undergraduate school, someone had started a project to make a guide to living sustainability in the residence halls, but it never went that far. Based on what I know about living in dorms/residence halls, they produce a huge carbon footprint especially compared to other university buildings. So, if we could make a resource for students to use, and they use it, then we could really make an impact. Especially if we could have Universities (or just your university) add this blog as a resource to incoming students, then students might adopt these sustainable habits early on rather than retroactively.
Let’s make this happen.
Hope to hear from you soon,
