In reflecting on your experience in earning this badge, please share some of your thoughts on what you most enjoyed about this process and if there are any ways you think it could be improved. What was your biggest take away?
I always enjoy learning more and educating myself, especially on a topic I feel personally very passionate about. While a lot of the information regarding the environmental justice readings and articles I already knew, I still picked up a few more facts and tidbits that I wasn't aware of before. Communication and collaboration is necessary in order to enact actual effective change. It is so important to involve community members and those being directly affected by environmental harms and hazards in the policy and decision-making processes. Giving everyone a voice and a say in the laws and policies that govern them is crucial to move towards a more equitable society and a future where no one experiences environmental racism or is exposed to mor hazards because of their identity.
