Ask Me About
Eco-Mission
My Eco-Mission:
As an outdoor and environmental educator, my Eco-Mission is to inspire and educate the next generaiton of environmental leaders. I spend my school year teaching natural resources at a career and technical high school, my free time leading hikes as a Hike it Baby Branch Ambassador, and my summers leading camps with my local county's Parks and Recreation department. Living in the Mitten State, I have a particular passion for teaching about and conserving the Great Lakes.

My Fun Side
My favorite planet friendly activity is:
I love growing my own food. Nothing like digging in the dirt to get close to nature!
One of my eco-guilty pleasures is:
Travel. I love exploring new places. Unfortunately, most of the time that means carbon emissions!
If I were an animal, I would be:
My favorite wild place is:
My favorite way to get outdoors is:
I love to kayak. Growing up on the Great Lakes, it's kind of impossible *not* to get involved in water sports. I love exploring aquatic ecosystems and finding all the amazing plants and animals that live in wet places.
On a More Serious Note
I am driven to make a difference in the world because:
I take the quote by Margaret Mead to heart: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." I know what kind of world I want to live in and it's my job to do my part to make that dream a reality.
The greatest skill I bring to a team is:
I am a strong leader with effective communication skills. When it comes to rallying the troops, I can inspire action.
My proudest moment working on community projects was:
Being recognized for the Farm to School program that I helped to create in Fairbanks, AK. We grew the vegetables, processed them, and served them in the school's cafeteria--less than 1 food mile traveled!
If I could change one thing about my community it would be:
To make the community more open-minded. Too often environmental causes are tagged with political labels that serve to divide people. We need to come together and realize that protecting the planet is a bipartisan issue!
