Project Goal Summary
In today's world of bite-sized news headlines and character-limited tweets, it's become harder to educate the public on complex environmental issues. These days, one of the easiest things to do for raising environmental awareness is to share a quick fact. Short - but powerful - facts and figures can spur the public consciousness out of apathy and get people looking for more information. In my own community I received a flyer at my door asking me to write to the mayor and urge him to push for a stronger recycling program instead of increasing the size of our city landfill. Next to the ask was a picture of a three story building - and next to it was a three story pile of trash! This was the newly proposed waste-space budget that the mayor was considering on approving. After seeing that figure, I quickly wrote to the mayor and contributed to the campaign around the community.

This wouldn't have happened without that quick, powerful fact that easily explained the issue and gave me a frame of reference to understand its impact.

My project aims to have that same impact. I will post flyers, stickers, and the like around my community with quick facts that help people learn just a little more about their impact on the environment and how they can reduce it. Along with those facts, the flyers will have either short links or QR codes for the reader to scan/enter to learn more at a website dedicated to that issue.

Project Goals and News
- My project aims to address the challenge of educating the public in an increasingly inattentive and apathetic society.
- I propose to impact this challenge by supplying my community with flyers and stickers posted around the city that have short but powerful facts about an individual's impact on the environment and how to reduce it, along with further information
- I will measure progress & success by using QR codes to direct readers to websites that have further information on the respective flyer's topic. These QR codes are trackable, and by using analytics I can see which issues reach the most people.

Great project! I'll look forward to following along. Perhaps you could post some of the flyer and sticker content in EcoLeaders as well? Keep up the great work!
